From a very young age, I became extremely interested in drawing, creating and design. At the age of 14, when my older cousin started working at a tattoo shop in Atlantic City NJ,
I naturally became fascinated with the world of tattooing. I would spend all of my extra time at the shop -- cleaning, drawing and offering any help just to get closer to this new found world. In 1999, I started my apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist. During that time I was surrounded by artists who taught me the basics and fundamentals. After years of hard work, I was lucky enough to move on and work with master tattooers who helped me hone new and more elaborate techniques.

At the age of sixteen Michael started his apprenticeship at 'Hot Rod Tattoo' in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
A few years later, he moved with his father to South Florida which gave him the opportunity to work and grow his skills within several shops in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Eventually he was introduced to 'Big Brain Tattoo,' where he learned a great deal from his mentor and friend-- the talented tattoo artist Chris Blinston, who later starred on InkMaster. Together, they won the award for the Best Tattoo Flash at the Live Fast Tattoo Convention in 2006. Later, they attended
the Gold Coast Tattoo Expo where Mike Jr won several trophies for tattoos in both the
Black & Grey Catagory and the Color Category.

Mike Jr went on to open his own shop in Miami, Florida where he tattooed for 8 years before deciding
it was time for a change of pace. After nearly two decades in Florida, the opportunity to travel arose!
Mike Jr and his wife have settled in the mountains of Appalachia with their 5 dogs and hairless cat,
and opened Electric Black Tattoo in Bluefield West Virginia. The move to Appalachia has been an exciting and life changing experience!

With over 20 years of tattoo experience, Mike is grateful to have not only become a published artist but also to have won awards for the tattoos he has created. He is always looking forward to the next piece to design and bring to life!
